5.3 HUMAN POPULATION GROWTH
Like the population of many together living organisms, the size of the human population tends to increase with time. At first, human population grow very slowly due to diseases and predators. But afterwards the population began to grow dramatically due to technological advances and medicines. The human population will not grow on forever because Earth's resources are limited, but when is the question. The scientific study of human populations is called demography. Birth rates, death rates, and the age structure of a population help predict why some countries have high growth rates while other countries grow more slowly. Demographic transition is a dramatic change in birth and death rates. Age structure diagrams are models where demographers can predict future growth.
Demographer must consider many factors to predict ho human population will grow. Some of the factors are: the age structure of each country and the prevalence of life threatening diseases.
